LAHORE: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday came under fire for his ‘sexist and violent’ remarks about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz during the ruling party’s election campaign in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
With a resolution against Gandapur’s remarks in the Punjab Assembly, there was condemnation from the opposition as well as people from all walks of life on social media.
“This House condemns indecent remarks of Ali Amin Gandapur in strongest words and demands apology from him. This man is not eligible to hold a public office and should immediately be sacked from his position,” says the resolution submitted by PML-N lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt.

LAHORE: Ruling out democracy in Afghanistan, senior journalist and anchorperson Saleem Safi said Monday the Pak military leadership, the ISI and our special envoy for Afghanistan did their best to convince Taliban to be part of a democratic system over the past year.
Speaking in Geo News programme Report Card, Safi wondered that if Taliban could not be convinced then despite our state’s best efforts, how would they listen to us now when they were emerging victor. He said that over the past year, our military leadership, the ISI, our special envoy held dozens of meetings with Taliban, involving religious scholars as well as employing pressure, but Taliban were unmoved, Safi added.

Members of the legal fraternity, analysts, and politicians on Monday saw as monumental and historic the Supreme Court judgement of accepting the review petitions challenging the top court s verdict in the presidential reference filed by the government against Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Over the course of the last few months, the case garnered widespread media attention as remarks delivered by Justice Isa and his other Supreme Court counterparts made national headlines.
The top court accepted the review petitions by a majority of 6-4, with Justice Maqbool Baqar, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Mazhar Alam allowing the petitions.
