READING, Vt. A 37-year-old Hartford man has been cited into court next month after authorities say he “misappropriated” at least $10,000 from the Reading Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization, according to a Vermont State Police news release.
Wade Mullins, a former treasurer of the PTO, was arrested Monday and cited on an embezzlement charge after a two-month investigation, according to the news release.
State Police said an attorney representing the PTO told them on Nov. 6 that “funds were missing from the organization’s checking account.” Police investigated and found that Mullins “had embezzled funds from the account between 2014 and 2020,” and that “there is evidence that at least $10,000 dollars was misappropriated from the account,” the release said.
