Three men charged in connection with Slough burglaries

Martin Stoakes, 42, of Bramston Road in Brent, 59-year-old John Cawley, of no fixed address, and 62-year-old Patrick Cawley, of Bridge Road in Brent, have all be charged with three counts each of burglary. It comes after three incidents in Slough on February 6. Meanwhile, Stoakes has been charged with an extra three counts of burglary following incidents in Slough in July 2020. Antonello Chiappetta, 52, of no fixed address, initially approached his 75-year-old victim back in June 2017 to ask him to lend him cash. He told him that his mother had died and left him an inheritance of £92,000, but in order to release it, he needed to pay solicitors a fee. Chiappetta said he would then pay him back. Over the course of 18 months, his elderly victim paid at least £56,000 to Chiappetta, who carried on making up lies - including that he was homeless and needed cash to find somewhere to live.

Jamil Munir A man who tried to discard drugs in the middle of a deal and racially abused a police officer has been jailed. Jamil Munir was spotted by police in Oldfield Road, Maidenhead, carrying out a drug deal on September 23 last year. As police detained him, the 36-year-old, of Arkley Court in the town, violently resisted and launched a tirade of racial slurs and abuse at one of the officers. At Reading Crown Court on Thursday, February 11, Munir was jailed for four and a half years after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was sentenced to six weeks for racially aggravated public order, to be served concurrently.

Knifeman found guilty of Scours Lane boat attack in Reading

A VIOLENT knifeman has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing a woman on a boat. David Rackett, of Scours Lane, Reading, was brought before Reading Crown Court this week after the attack in April last year. During a six-day trial, the court heard details of how Rackett met a woman in her 40s on Oxford Road on Sunday, April 16. About 9.45pm the pair walked together to a boat in Scours Lane in which he was living. Police said 10 minutes after they got to his home, Rackett launched the violent attack on his victim throwing her to the floor and strangling her.
