Colorado Falls to Gulls in Season Opener, 3-2

Colorado Falls to Gulls in Season Opener, 3-2 Feb 13, 2021 IRVINE, CA. – San Diego forward Vinni Lettieri netted a pair of third-period goals, including the game-winner, as the Gulls defeated the Colorado Eagles, 3-2 on Saturday. Defenseman Greg Pateryn and forward Ryan Wagner both lit the lamp in the loss, while Eagles goaltender Peyton Jones made 35 saves on 38 shots in his AHL debut. The game kicked off the 2020-21 season for Colorado and was the team’s first contest since March 11, 2020.   A 5-on-3 power play for Colorado would set up the game’s first goal, as Pateryn stepped into a slapshot from the high slot and beat Gulls goaltender Anthony Stolarz over the blocker. The tally was Pateryn’s first as an Eagle and gave Colorado a 1-0 edge just 6:55 into the contest. Mike Vecchione picked up an assist, while fellow forward Callahan Burke earned his first professional point with a helper on the play.

Pair of Lions Spotted in Westport

Two lions were recently spotted in Westport. Before you panic, these are not real lions, so there s no need to call animal control. I was born and raised in the small town of Westport and at the age of 33, I thought I had seen it all. That was, of course, until I took a little detour down Sodom Road today to visit my parents. Right across the street from Weatherlow Farms, the farm owns a large cornfield that has been growing cow corn, as I call it, since before I was even born. Well, today as I passed the vast pasture, I was grateful that there was no one behind me because I saw two large figures that resembled something ferocious.

The Rink - Five bold predictions for the 2021 Colorado Eagles

Five bold predictions for the 2021 Colorado Eagles February 10, 2021 What is in store for the Colorado Eagles in 2021? (Photograph courtesy of Ashley Potts / Colorado Eagles) The season is finally upon us! I said three weeks ago I was going to write a season preview for the Colorado Eagles. At that point in time, the Eagles were expected to kick off their season on Feb. 5. Then, the Stockton Heat AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames decided to move to Canada for the year. It was a move that made perfect sense, logistically, but shouldn’t they have figured that out weeks ago rather than three days before the season was supposed to start?

Austin new-home sales extraordinary during pandemic

As builders scrambled to keep up with demand, housing construction in Central Texas reached record levels in 2020, with home starts – and the median sales price of those new-homes – hitting all-time highs.  Industry experts say 2021 could mirror the housing market s recurring themes: high demand, low supply, and – to many buyers dismay – rising prices. The median sale price for newly built homes in the Austin metro area last year was $313,594 – meaning half sold for more than that amount and half sold for less. The $313,594 was a 4.4% increase over 2019 s median price and a record for the area, according to industry firm Zonda, which tracks the housing market in the five-county Austin region that spans Georgetown to San Marcos.
