Wagner approached a railroad crossing immediately north of the intersection. As Wagner crossed the rails, the left side of the truck was struck by a westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train, which consisted of a locomotive and 85 empty hopper cars. As a result, the truck broke apart and overturned, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.
