(Molly Lubbers/KRBD) Last Saturday, the Ketchikan Pride Alliance held its annual Pride Picnic. It was a space for LGBTQ people to build community, celebrate and be visible during Pride Month.    Under the sun and out at Rotary Beach Park, community members gathered for Ketchikan’s annual Pride Picnic, chatting and laughing. On the grill were burgers and hot dogs, and on people’s faces were smiles.  It’s a much different scene than the first pride event, Ketchikan Pride Alliance President Sheen Davis said.

(Eric Stone/KRBD) A second spate of racist graffiti in less than a week has appeared in the Ketchikan area. An 11-foot wide swastika and other hateful symbols were painted Wednesday along a main road just south of town.   A green and white swastika drawn across the southbound lane of South Tongass Highway appeared  Wednesday morning. The spray-painted anti-Semitic and white supremacist symbol drew widespread condemnation from community members.
