Stellantis is slowly but surely getting its act together as a group. It has revealed its plans for a few of its neglected brands and is also planning to import a quirky Citroen EV for its Free2Move mobility service. Along with bringing in new EVs for rental, the company intends to sell 400,000 electrified vehicles this year.
With these developments and others, the conglomerate has now told a French newspaper that it no longer needs Tesla s help with meeting emissions targets. We could all use a little more science in our lives.
Porsche is bringing out the big guns for its electric Taycan sports sedan. It got Bill Nye The Science Guy to do a five-part video series on the new EV, explaining its 800-volt battery, clever aerodynamics, regenerative braking, two-speed transmission and repeatable performance.
As a quick reminder, the base Porsche Taycan costs about $80,000 and delivers 402 hp and 254 lb-ft from a single rear motor. That s good for a sprint time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph. The Taycan 4S is $103,000 and comes with two motors for a total of 522 hp in base form with 227 miles of range. The Taycan Turbo and Turbo S are the fastest with 670 hp and 750 hp respectively. Those sprint times are 3 seconds and 2.6 seconds. The Turbo starts at $150,900.
