GRAND TOWER, Ill. (WJPF) The town of Grand Tower has been awarded a $30,000 grant to help improve their wastewater collection and treatment system.
The money is part of Governor JB Pritzker’s Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan.
Through the Unsewered Communities Planning Grant Program, communities will be able to address problems with the collection and treatment of wastewater. Information from the program may also be used to apply for a grant from the Unsewered Communities Construction Grant Program.
Over the next five years, the Unsewered Communities Construction Grant Program will make $100 million available through the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan for construction of wastewater collection and/or treatment facilities.

The Illinois Capital Development Board has released $712,000 from the state towards repairing the stone facia at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville along with other maintenance projects on campus.
The project is part of the wider Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan spearheaded by Governor Pritzker.
The renovation plans will create new jobs and economic opportunities for the community, according to its proponents.
The Rebuild Illinois Plan passed with bipartisan super-majorities and will invest $45 billion in roads, bridges, universities, early childhood centers and state facilities throughout Illinois.
