ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENT Widow Can t Get Redo Of $70K Verdict In Med Mal Suit Law360 (May 10, 2021, 7:05 PM EDT) A Pennsylvania appeals court on Monday rejected a widow s bid for a retrial after she won $70,000 on claims that her husband was burned at a hospital but nothing for his eventual death after he was denied life-extending chemotherapy, finding her objections to the jury instructions were unfounded. The panel affirmed a verdict in favor of Mary Hayes on behalf of the estate of her husband, Richard Hayes, in her suit against Coatesville Hospital Corp. and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Inc., saying there was no basis for a retrial on damages.
