Creative Artists Agency held an event on Wednesday at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles to launch the Ready Set mentoring program, which highlights the nationwide need for tutors.
Ready Set is an online recruitment campaign that addresses the loss of learning and relational mentors among K-12 public school students in the U.S., particularly those who live in historically marginalized communities. The campaign will run through Sept. 2021 and build a strong volunteer pipeline for the academic year ahead.

CAA has promoted Albert Lee, Bryant Barile and Stephanie Smalling to agents in its motion picture literary department. All three are based in the agency’s Los Angeles office.
“Bryant, Albert and Stephanie have long been contributing to the success of the department, consistently demonstrating an exceptional taste level, a passion for delivering best-in-class client service and a commitment to the agency’s culture of collaboration,” said Dan Rabinow and Ida Ziniti, co-heads of CAA’s motion picture literary department. “They have each built their career at CAA and we are deeply gratified to be a part of their continued growth.”

Early on in the pandemic, many adoption shelters nationwide were emptied out, as people with more time on their hands thanks to lockdowns rushed to get rescue dogs and cats. Now, months later as the White House has welcomed its first shelter dog, President Biden s Major adoption rates remain strong across the U.S., according to Barb Williamson of the national advocacy group Best Friends Animal Society.

Creative Artists Agency has promoted CFO James Burtson to president of the Hollywood talent agency.
Carol Sawdye, a former COO of the global PwC network of firms, will also join CAA as its new chief financial officer. Richard Lovett, Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd will continue on as CAA co-chairmen.
“The primary role of CAA president is understanding that leading is actually serving, and throughout his tenure with CAA, Jim has been tireless in his pursuit of furthering the company’s interests,” said Lovett in a statement.
