Real Madrid's top scorer Karim Benzema is back for Sunday's derby away to La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid, coach Zinedine Zidane said, no doubt hoping the striker can restore some attacking flair to the side, which has struggled for goals in his absence.

Sir: ‘Love-bombing’ the Scottish electorate with supplemental spending in devolved areas (‘The break-up’, 27 February) is unlikely to prove a decisive tactic in the ongoing battle over Scottish independence. It will never be enough, and the average voter will not distinguish Westminster spend from Holyrood’s.
Neither should opposition to an independence referendum be the Scottish Conservative and Unionist party’s primary policy in the upcoming Holyrood election. Falling into the SNP trap of focusing on this issue allows the party to pursue its agenda of confected grievance and division. Secession is the SNP’s preferred battleground, not least because it permits deflection of their record in government.
Utah may soon have a new commemorative flag to honor 125 years of statehood. Senate Bill 48, that creates the State Flag Task Force and establishes a commemorative state flag, was approved by the House and Senate. It now heads to the governor's desk for final approval. The Organization for a New Utah Flag is behind the push. “When we began this movement in 2017, we knew it was a cause worth fighting for,” the organization’s chair Richard Martin.

IN 1984 President Reagan won a second presidential term in the US, Margaret Thatcher won a landslide election victory, York Minster suffered a serious fire and Marion Archer became a trustee of East Harlsey Village Hall. This week the current trustees marked Marion’s retirement by presenting her with a tree for her garden. During her time on the committee she has served as secretary, treasurer and chairman and always had the interests of the hall and the community at heart. Apart from a short break around the turn of the century, her service has been continuous. Current chairman, Richard Martin said: “Marion has been at the centre of most of the improvements that have happened in the hall over the years. Her talent for attracting grants has meant that she was involved in planning and developing a play area for the village and helping with the refurbishment of the interior of the hall.
