Cameo bosses hope to form part of Richard Carr s Bournemouth development

Cameo nightclub in Bournemouth THE operators of Bournemouth’s Cameo nightclub have revealed they hope to form part of the huge new development planned for their current site. REKOM UK operates Cameo & Myu and is one of a number of businesses which will be affected by developer Richard Carr’s plans for the Glen Fern House site. The site, with frontages on Glen Fern Road and Fir Vale Road in Bournemouth town centre, is currently home to Cameo & Myu, the Norwegian Wood Cafe, Oasis Fun and a multi-storey car park. But Mr Carr, the well-known Chief Executive of developer Fortitudo, has revealed ambitious plans to demolish the current building to make way for what he describes as “ground-breaking” facilities.

It is currently home to Cameo Nightclub, Norwegian Wood Café, Oasis Fun and a multi-storey car park. Cameo and MYU Plans include a large nightclub, cinema and apartments. The site has long been associated with some of the town centre’s most popular bars and nightclubs through the decades. Here we take a look back at some of the clubs that have come and gone which may bring back memories of some fantastic (or not so fantastic) nights out. Younger readers may remember Lava & Ignite which launched around 2008 and closed in 2013. It was known for nights such as Monday Madness and Band Wagon Wednesdays.

Glen Fern House in Fir Vale Road, Bournemouth has been acquired by Fortitudo, property development company, and Interceptor Opportunities. Chief Executive of Fortitudo, Richard Carr said: We re keen to try and bring back something that is much, much better and will make Bournemouth a great place to live.
