STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. All Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of New York, including schools on Staten Island, will be closed on Thursday due to the massive snowstorm expected to dump from eight to 14 inches across New York City.

The city Department of Education (DOE) made the announcement Wednesday that all district school buildings will close Thursday due to severe weather conditions. After-school programs, adult education, and YABC programs are also canceled. All takeout and community meal operations will be closed.
While school buildings are closed, instruction will still continue remotely for all students. Regardless of how many flakes fall this winter, public school students won’t be receiving any snow days and that’s because students and teachers can participate in school remotely. De Blasio called snow days “a thing of the past” during his press briefing on Tuesday.
