The city Department of Education (DOE) made the announcement Wednesday that all district school buildings will close Thursday due to severe weather conditions. After-school programs, adult education, and YABC programs are also canceled. All takeout and community meal operations will be closed.
While school buildings are closed, instruction will still continue remotely for all students. Regardless of how many flakes fall this winter, public school students won’t be receiving any snow days — and that’s because students and teachers can participate in school remotely. De Blasio called snow days “a thing of the past” during his press briefing on Tuesday.
