Kim Oscar Johnson, 92, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Dec. 15, 2020. He was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Idaho Falls to Oscar Wilhelm Johnson and Phoebe Lucina (Weaver) Johnson. He was the seventh of 12 children and grew up working on family farms where he was instilled with a strong work ethic, love of country, devotion to family, and faith in his Savior. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School, he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas and Louisiana. During those two years, he was engaged to his high school sweetheart, Sharyn June Olson. At one point, Sharyn wrote Kim a Dear John letter to call off their engagement. But Kim wrote back such a beautiful love letter that she decided to wait. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on Jan. 3, 1951. Kim attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, before transferring to Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Bacteriology. A

Tuscaloosa:Concerns over furthering the spread of COVID-19 have prompted officials with the Tuscaloosa Public Library system to again close its branches. The closures will remain through at least Jan. 5, said library spokesman Vince Bellofatto. All three locations of the Tuscaloosa Public Library are expected to reopen Jan. 6. “TPL made this choice to support the overall health and well-being of Tuscaloosa city, county and Northport and for the safety of our patrons and staff,” Bellofatto said. “It was a very hard decision, as TPL is dedicated to serving the patrons, but the best way to serve our community now, is to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.” Library officials will remain in contact with the library’s board of trustees and, if needed, additional measures might be taken. Debbie Morgan passed away on Dec. 15 while her husband, Craig Morgan, followed on Dec. 20.

St. Anthony Funeral Home Director Bert Flamm reports that he has had similar situations happen where a long married couple dies within hours or days of each other.
âThey donât want to go through life alone and be lonely,â he said. âThey (are) hanging on for each other. We see that more often than not. Each one of them thinks they have to be there for the other until their health gets so poor, one canât hang on, and then the other one goes not long after that.â
