Three people were shot at a middle school in Idaho on Thursday (May 6) morning. Officers responded to an active shooter situation at Rigby Middle School at 9:15 a.m. and found two students and an adult custodian suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officials said they have been transported to the hospital, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Jefferson schools to be closed Friday

RIGBY, Idaho (KIFI) - Jefferson School District 251 will not have school Friday.
The district said all schools will be closed, but counselors will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rigby High School.
School will resume on Monday.
The Jefferson County Sheriff and Jefferson School District Superintendent will be holding a press conference at 4 p.m. You can watch it HERE.

RIGBY, Idaho It is an absolute blessing that two students and a custodian were not more seriously injured or killed after being shot Thursday morning at Rigby Middle School.
Dr. Michael Lemon, the trauma medical director at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, said during a news conference at the Jefferson School District Office that three victims sustained injuries that were not life-threatening injuries and should recover.
The school employee was shot one time in what Lemon described as a through-and-through extremity injury. He was treated and released by Thursday afternoon. One student was shot once in an extremity and may require surgery, according to Lemon. The other student was potentially shot twice, and two limbs were hit.

Central Fire Chief Carl Anderson stated in a press conference following the shooting that the injured staff member had placed himself between the shooter and the two students. The staff member and two students have been transferred to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Anderson further said that the shooter had been apprehended between the time of 8:12 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Identities of the victims and the shooter have not been released at this time.Â
According to a press release by Jefferson Joint School Dist. #251, the injuries sustained are non-life threatening. Students from the middle school were evacuated to Rigby High School where parents may pick them up. Students that are not picked up will be bussed home.
