THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) was rendered limited in what it was able to do last year because of the pandemic and is now seeking to be âbusierâ for its Season 46.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, PBA officials, led by chairman Ricky Vargas and commissioner Willie Marcial, shared that they have crafted a âpackedâ schedule for its coming season, putting consideration on what they are allowed to do during this time of the pandemic.
The PBA hopes for a longer season than the previous one with plans to stage two conferences during a 10-month period under a semi-bubble format starting April 11.

Photo: FIBA The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Tuesday said Kai Sotto is included in their plans for the final window of FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. According to SBP president Al Panlilio, the 18-year-old big man is part of the list for the 20 to 25-man pool expected to enter the Gilas Pilipinas training bubble by the end of the month. We just have to talk to him and reach out to him again, Panlilio said in a virtual conference on Tuesday. We have not finalized our calendar yet. Once we do, we will have to share with him what the plan is and [talk to him] on what he is doing, align that with what is ours.

Board Chairman Ricky Vargas already mentioned the matter to Commissioner Willie Marcial when the two attended the PBA Press Corps virtual Awards Night on Sunday at studio 4 of TV5 Media Center.
“We’ll take a look at it from two points of view. This is not the first time this incident happened. We’ll see how we can address this issue so that moving forward the policies are a lot clearer and fairer to everyone concern,” said Vargas.
