Thousands of rape victims are still waiting for justice. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation provided an update on the state’s work to process the untested rape kits. They say it will take at least four to five years to process the thousands of kits from across the state. OSBI said it has hired additional analysts and criminalists to help go through the kits. But processing just one can take anywhere from 180 to 300 days. Once the kits are processed, OSBI says, they will identify some of the most dangerous criminals. “We know these cases are going to identify serial rapists, murderers, gonna identify people who were assaulted sometime years ago. Our goal is to find them justice and find answers to this,” OSBI Director Ricky Adams said. OSBI only has three fully trained analysts in its sexual assault division right now. Those three are working the kits but also trying to train new analysts.
