Author: Chase Biefeldt (KTVB) Updated: 6:38 AM MDT April 28, 2021 MERIDIAN, Idaho Families who need a caregiver for a loved one are often coming up empty as businesses struggle to hire and retain qualified employees. “We actually turn away business because we don’t have the hours available and we’re constantly recruiting, said Rick Walsh, the owner of Samaritan Senior Care in Meridian. His company provides in-home caretaking services for elders and disabled people who need a little extra help with daily tasks. Walsh said potential employees in this field are increasingly in-demand.

Plum School District officials understand the covid pandemic has impacted families greatly the past year and plan to offer a summer program to help students’ mental health and grades. “One of the big shifts going into this summer is: We’ve been hearing from our teachers and administrators and families that we have students that have struggled during remote learning,” said Rick Walsh, deputy superintendent. “We understand there are a lot of families going through some difficult times. We want to make sure we’re not only meeting their needs, but they have the advantage of taking these courses.”

Wendy Gibbons - a mainstay at Hornchurch s Ardleigh Green Junior School for some 30 years - died on February 24 after a short battle with cancer. She was 57.  In the aftermath her family, led by her children and partners, set about creating a fundraising page in Wendy s name to honour her wish of donations over flowers.  An initial target of £1,000 has been smashed in mere days, with the total - £9,029 at the time of writing - a fitting tribute for this beloved lady.
