On Tuesday, voters head to the polls again – as four of the nine seats on the Milwaukee Board of School Directors are up for election.
Candidates Marcelia Garcia and Henry Leonard are each running unopposed – in Districts 6 and 7, respectively. But there are contested races in Districts 4 and 5.
In District 5, which includes parts of Harambee, Riverwest, Downtown and the East Side, Alex Brower and Jilly Gokalgandhi are vying to replace outgoing school board director Larry Miller.
Early voting is open at City Hall until 5 p.m. Friday. You can find your Election Day polling place here.

MILWAUKEE - Sharon Purifoy can remember her scariest day as a Milwaukee firefighter.
It was her first day on the job in 2003. Nothing particular happened that day. But it was frightening for her to be starting a career in which life and death are separated by a very thin line. The most scared I’ve ever been on the job? It had to be just walking in here. It wasn’t a run, it wasn’t a fire. It was walking into something that I knew nothing about, Purifoy told FOX6 News from her office on a recent afternoon.
Marvin Pratt is a former Milwaukee alderman and Common Council president.
He was the first Black person to serve as acting mayor of Milwaukee when he was sworn in on Jan. 2, 2004, following the sudden resignation of Mayor
John Norquist. He served until shortly after the election in April of that year, when
Pratt also served as interim Milwaukee County Executive from Feb. 4 to April 25, 2011, after being appointed by County Board President
Lee Holloway. He’s the only person to have served in both roles.
Harambee: “To pull together”
The neighborhood of Harambee, located between North Avenue and Keefe Avenue (or Capital Drive, depending on whom you ask) and Holton Street to Seventh Street was named after the Swahili word meaning “to pull together” or “to come together and pull.”

At the summer meeting of the New England Santa Claus Society there was talk that this might be a year without Santa Claus. At least at the malls and stores.
And while many Santas opted to go virtual and the Kris Kringle business is way down, you can still find a Santa here or there, socially distanced, wearing a mask, likely behind a plexiglass wall.
