Kootenay Lake local November KLAIP winner
Rick Taylor has lived on Kootenay Lake for 40 years and has seen some ups and downs in fish numbers and size but commented that the last few years have been catastrophic for the Kokanee numbers.
The Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program (KLAIP) is designed to help the iconic kokanee salmon population recover after their collapse in 2013. Conservationists have been trying to reverse the decline by conducting kokanee egg plants and fry release for the past five years. The high in-lake abundance of rainbow and bull trout is suppressing the survival of the kokanee, the primary food source of these predators.

The Kootenay Lake Angler Incentive Program (KLAIP) is designed to help the iconic kokanee salmon population recover after their collapse in 2013.
Anglers are encouraged to harvest rainbow and bull trout in the main body of Kootenay Lake, then bring heads to local depots to be entered in the monthly draw for a prize worth $1,000.

IDAHO FALLS Prosecutors have charged a man after a months-long investigation into a woman’s fatal overdose in July.
On July 1, the Idaho Falls Police Department found Jesica Foster, 33, dead in her bed with a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Investigators say Jacob Christopher Perez, 26, arranged the sale of the drugs that Foster died from.
This month, he was arrested and charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance with an infliction of great bodily injury enhancement.
When police found Foster, they also found an ATM receipt for $140 withdrawn from an Idaho Falls bank around 5 p.m. the day before, according to an affidavit of probable cause. In September, police also received a report of a download of Foster’s phone that showed a conversation with Perez arranging to meet with his source to buy heroin.
