BELLOWS FALLS The problem of what to do to replace the Depot Street Bridge keeps getting thornier and more expensive.
But a business leader whose business is headquartered on The Island, which is served by the failed bridge, urged the Rockingham Select Board last week to think long-term.
Costs for the various options range from a high of $9.2 million to $5.2 million, with the local share ranging from $474,000 to $1.5 million.
Casey Cota, president of Cota & Cota Oil, urged the board to endorse what is likely to be the most expensive option for replacing the bridge, but would serve the town s businesses better.

WASHINGTON, May 14 (Reuters) - With more than one-third of Americans vaccinated against COVID-19, traffic is starting to re-appear in some suburbs, schools are cautiously re-opening and masks are disappearing from outside walking paths.
But the federal government in Washington, D.C., which asked most employees to work from home during the pandemic, remains largely dependent on remote work.
This may change since the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week that fully vaccinated people do not need masks outdoors or in most indoor spaces. It also said that fully vaccinated people will not need to physically distance in most places. The Pentagon, for one, quickly changed its guidance regarding masks.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate will vote on Wednesday on a measure to restore regulation of emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, a move that Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called a big deal in fighting climate change.
Schumer, along with fellow Democrats Martin Heinrich and Ed Markey and Independent Angus King, will introduce their resolution in the Senate under the Congressional Review Act (CRA), a 1996 law that allows Congress to reverse federal rules implemented in the last days of a past administration with a simple majority.
