Police identify remains found in Bethel Staff report Modified: 7/19/2021 9:49:25 PM BETHEL Authorities have identified the remains found last week in a tent in Bethel as 35-year-old resident James P. Lumbra, according to a news release from Vermont State Police. Police are investigating how Lumbra died but said they don’t believe it’s suspicious. They are awaiting the results of toxicology tests, the release said. Troopers were called to Findley Bridge Road around 6:15 p.m. Thursday after a caller said a body was in a tent on a property there. Police arrived to find the decomposed human remains, later identified as Lumbra, in the tent. Police said Lumbra lived at the property, but did not disclose the exact address in the news release.

Mon, 07/12/2021 - 5:03pm tim Vermont State Police On Monday at approximately 0623 hours, Troopers from the Royalton Barracks, Westminster Barracks, and Middlesex Barracks were dispatched to the area of mile marker 66 on I-91 north in the Town of Hartland for a report of several vehicles which crashed at that location. Hartford and Hartland Fire and Rescue also responded as well as the Agency of Transportation and an Inspector from the Department of Motor Vehicles commercial team. Upon arrival, responders learned a two vehicle crash occurred on the bridge near mile marker 66/40 north, which caused both lanes of traffic to be at a standstill. A pick-up truck hauling drilling equipment was unable to come to a stop and collided with several of the stopped vehicles, which caused approximately nine (9) vehicles to sustain front and rear end damage. There were no reported injuries. the roadway was closed for approximately two hours while vehicles were being recovered and roadway debris

Mon, 04/05/2021 - 5:11pm tim The Vermont State Police is investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 91 southbound in the town of Hartland at about 5:50 am Monday, April 5, 2021. Investigators determined that a tractor trailer driven by Gary Starr, 66, of Jay was southbound on the interstate when it became disabled, and Starr pulled over into the breakdown lane. He had activated his four-way flashers and set up several traffic triangles behind his vehicle. For unknown reasons, Starr was walking in the southbound travel lane of I-91 when a 2013 Dodge Dart driven by Tristan Blanchard, 35, of North Springfield came around a bend in the highway and struck Starr. Blanchard reported that he attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Starr was driving for Couture Trucking Inc. of Troy, Vermont.
