The Test Valley Civic Service was held on Sunday July 4 in Romsey Abbey. A service was led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Rev’d Thomas Wharton and the theme was to give thanks for the dedication and support of volunteers who have worked so hard, in particular during the pandemic. The Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Mark Cooper said: “The fact that this day coincided with the National Thank You Day was apt, during the pandemic we have seen overwhelming support from volunteers across the borough and this was the perfect opportunity for us to give thanks and show our appreciation.”

Nick & Joe Grout, Keith Lawrenson ROMSEY Male Voice Choir will be back after an enforced interval of nearly 18 months. Live in concert at Romsey Abbey on Friday July 9, the performance will be in support of Southampton Hospitals Charity as part of the Romsey Festival. There will be a mixture of old and new favourites as well as featuring Viola Soloist Rachel Maxey and Tenor Soloist Byron Horne. Choir President Keith Lawrenson said that whilst choir members were keen to get back singing on stage, raising money for charity was the choir’s primary motivation. “This has been such a tough time for everyone and it’s no secret that singers across the country have missed something that does so much for their mental health and that’s true for RMVC.
