A Yonkers man was sentenced in April to 10 years in prison for burglarizing homes around Westchester County in late 2019 and early 2020.
During the holiday crime spree that winter, German Martinez had been accused of swiping cash, jewelry, laptops and other items from several homes after using unwitting cab drivers to take him there.
Martinez had been accused of forcing his way in to some of those homes using a crowbar or breaking a window, as well as threatening one victim with a knife and injuring another victim.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
University of Southern Maine’s Robert Schneider, of Rockland, and Cora Gavett, of Palermo.
They are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were justified in shooting a teen who was in a stolen SUV that rammed into their police cruiser during an interstate chase that ended near Claymont last December, the Delaware Department of Justice said.
Pennsylvania Troopers Andrew Baldwin and Vincent Scardilli were concerned for their safety when they shot at the stolen Ford Escort carrying four teens south on I-95. One of the teens, a 17-year-old, was grazed in the leg by police gunfire during the chase that at times exceeded speeds of 100 mph.
