Alongside our staff-voted Game of the Year awards, each of our writers have crafted their own personal lists, covering their top five PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 titles of 2020. Today, it s the turn of senior staff writer Liam Croft.
Who would have thought that a PS5 pack-in title would end up being one of the best games of 2020? Having grown up with PlayStation and owning every console since, Astro s Playroom hit me in all the right places with heartfelt tributes to both the games of my childhood and those I consider to be the best of the best. From Metal Gear Solid to ICO, a rather large smile was stuck to my face the entire time. It s also a pretty good platformer too that demonstrates the potential of the new DualSense controller with complete confidence. Haptic feedback and those adaptive triggers really do feel like the next step for this industry. The perfect place to kickstart the PS5 generation.

The truly terrible year that was 2020 comes to a close in just a handful of days, which many will be rightfully celebrating. But before we can look ahead to the next set of 365 days, it s time to take a look back at the predictions made by the Push Square editorial team at the beginning of the year. 2020 was a milestone year for Sony, marking the launch of the PlayStation 5 as such, almost all of our predictions were based on the reveal of the new machine. So, without further ado, let s see what predictions we got right as well as the ones that were woefully wrong.

In a crazy year like 2020, we probably should have expected Cyberpunk 2077’s utter implosion – but it’s still taken us by surprise, we must admit. If the state of the game wasn’t already shocking enough, we’re still reeling from Sony’s decision to remove the role-playing release from the PS Store. It’s just an utterly unprecedented move really.
Of course, in addition to the delisting, the organisation has also promised to honour refund requests for all PS Store purchases. Similarly, creator CD Projekt RED has said that it will reimburse boxed copy owners “out of its own pocket” if fans are unable to get their money back from the physical store they purchased the game from.
University Park PD sergeant found dead in East Texas lake

UNIVERSITY PARK, Texas - The body of a University Park police sergeant was found Thursday morning after he disappeared while duck hunting at an East Texas lake on Wednesday.
Texas Parks and Wildlife divers recovered Sgt. Robert Ramsey s body. It s just a shock and it’s something that we re trying to deal with it right now, said UPPD Assistant Chief Jim Savage.
Police say Sgt. Ramsey was last seen alive Wednesday launching his boat at a public ramp on Lake Tawakoni just before noon.
Later in the day, the boat was found adrift five miles away. Officials are trying to determine how he ended up in the water.

HUNT COUNTY, Texas A Texas police sergeant went duck hunting and did not return Wednesday as anticipated. He was found dead Thursday at Lake Tawakoni, about 60 miles east of Dallas.
Sgt. Robert Ramsey was a 12-year veteran of the University Park Police Department, according to authorities.
In a statement Thursday, University Park Police said it appeared as though Ramsey put his boat in the water at a public ramp. It’s unclear how he ended up in the water, but his boat was found drifting Wednesday, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Texas game wardens and West Tawakoni police searched for Ramsey, and found his body in the lake just before noon Thursday.
