Delhi LG Anil Baijal sought a report on Delhi s vaccine preparedness for people above 18 years New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal sought a report from Chief Secretary Vijay Dev on Thursday on the city s preparedness for the vaccination of people above 18 years of age against COVID-19, his first significant move since the controversial GNCTD (Amendment) Act, 2021 that says the Delhi government means the Lt Governor came into force. The provisions of the Act came into effect from April 27, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Anil Baijal s office also created a Twitter handle - @RajNiwasDelhi - saying it will share official announcements, press releases, reactions and other useful information for the residents of the national capital.

Following a consultative meeting with officials chaired by Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, a set of additional curbs were announced to the cut-off time of 2 p.m. for shops and business establishments that had been announced earlier by the State Emergency Operations Centre till April 30.

Day 2: city streets remain deserted, shops stay shut

No inbound movement to Puducherry On the second day of the complete lockdown in Puducherry, streets across the city wore a deserted look. At the Morattandi toll gate, the police stopped out-bound travellers and only permitted those with valid reasons to pass through. Since Tamil Nadu was also under a lockdown, there was virtually no inbound movement. The major fish and meat markets remained shut on account of Mahavir Jayanti. Business was brisk at streetside fish outlets near the harbour. The Sunday market, not on the list of exempted activities, remained inactive. Only a few tea stalls were open in the city. The lockdown was in force till 5 a.m. on Monday. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre guidelines, shops will function only from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday till April 30.
