RANCHI: The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)’s decision to shut down “Dawaai Dost”, a generic medicine store which used to provide medicines at subsidized rates, is likely to push up the medical expenses of poor .patients visiting the hospital by nearly four times.
The move comes in the wake of a 2015 decision made by governing body of RIMS in which it was decided that the hospital would invite an open tender after its agreement ends with Dawaai Dost. However, as no tenders were invited after 2015 and after Jharkhand High Court summoned the RIMS administration over the issue, it directed the store to down shutters within a month.

RANCHI: Faculty members of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences have unanimously decided to oppose a fresh diktat issued by hospital management to depute them at the newly constituted hospital control room. The faculty members said that hospital management is not their job.
A meeting of Rims Teachers Association was convened in this regard on Friday and they have passed a resolution stating that they protest the move of the hospital management and have communicated the same to the director of the institute.
Talking to TOI, president of Rims Teachers Association Dr Prabhat Kumar said, “The new roster released by Rims administration deploying faculties from assistant professor level to professor at control room is completely out of line. Teaching faculties are responsible for clinical duties, academics and research work and not for receiving complaints and addressing them which are arising out of hospital’s day-to-day functioning. It is the job of administrative officials
