Margrit Waltz starts 900th transatlantic ferry trip : FLYER

Legendary ferry pilot Margrit Waltz starts her 900 th transatlantic crossing today. 64-year-old Margrit is flying a TBM 940 from the factory at Tarbes, France to Muncie, Indiana, USA via her usual route: Wick (Scotland), Keflavik (Iceland), Iqaluit (Canada) and Bangor (Maine, USA). Margrit is well-known to air traffic controllers en route. “I’m around these people more often than my own family,” she told FLYER contributor Jean-Marie Urlacher. “Robin and Brian in Glasgow, Chris, David or Jens in Keflavik, Peter and Junia in Greenland… makes me think I need to wish Eris, my mechanic based in Sept-Îles (Seven Islands) in Canada, happy birthday. He turns 81 tomorrow.”

Used Aircraft Guide: Meyers 200

AVweb Used Aircraft Guide: Meyers 200 A classic four-place retrac that will keep up with or outrun anything in its class. It has tank-like construction, but limited useful load. Dean Siracusa moves right along in a Meyers 200D. Involve experts like him in your search. He’s flown 17 of them so far, logging more than 1500 hours in type. The raw performance numbers of a Meyers 200 might resemble what you’d expect from the most modern single-engine piston speedster, even though the airplane is a product of the 1950s, and went out of production in the 1960s. But don’t turn a nose to these old gals because of their age. We’re talking cruise speeds that can flirt with 190 knots, an airframe with an exceptionally crashworthy race-car-like tubular roll cage and understructure, no history of inflight breakups and no FAA ADs against the airframe. Decent ones sell for shy of $80,000.
