Pegi Deitz Shea. The free event is billed as a “Green Poetry Café,” where poets will perform their works about nature. The reading commemorates both National Poetry Month and Earth Day (April 22). An open microphone session will follow the featured readers.
VERNON â Efforts are underway to help residents who were displaced by a massive fire that occurred Sunday morning in an apartment complex at 26 Union St.
The Cornerstone Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit that operates two homeless shelters, a soup kitchen, and a food pantry in town, is working to collect donations for the residents of the building, which has been deemed uninhabitable.
The fire displaced 27 people, including four children.
