Ranchi: After a sudden spurt in the number of Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand, the state department of health, medical education and family welfare is now relying on aggressive contact tracing of infected persons to ramp up testing.
In September last year, Jharkhand had tested over 13.39 lakh samples (highest during the pandemic) through rapid antigen tests (RAT), TrueNat and RT-PCR machines. However, with the number of cases declining, the testing rate had reduced considerably.
While 4,11,527 tests were conducted in January this year, the figures dropped to 2,93,451 in February. However, the testing rate has once again been ramped up and in March, 3,52,145 were tested for Covid-19.
