Digital Ministry prepares ruling to delay some data law obligations
MOSCOW, Dec 16 (PRIME) Russias Digital Development Ministry has prepared a draft government ruling to delay the obligation of telecom operators to raise data storage capacities by 15% under the data retention law for a year, as seen by PRIME in the draft ruling published on the governments website late on Tuesday.
In force from July 1, 2018, the data retention law, also known as Yarovaya law after Deputy Irina Yarovaya, who actively pushed forward the initiative obliging telecom operators and Internet providers to store customer traffic. The government is yet to decide on types and terms of data storage.
