Bubble Watch 2021.” This is when we talk about Kansas City Chiefs players who have little margin for error this offseason; they’ll need to prove their worth or they may not make it to Week 1.
Last week, we discussed Khalen Saunders and Dorian O’Daniel. This week, we considered two other players:
Ron: BoPete Keyes
With last week’s signing of former first-round pick Mike Hughes, Keyes becomes a more prominent resident of the roster bubble. In recent years, the Chiefs have kept four or five cornerbacks on the Week 1 roster; they haven’t kept six since 2017. If they once again keep five corners, it’s hard to see Keyes beating out Hughes or players like L’Jarius Sneed, Charvarius Ward, Rashad Fenton and Deandre Baker.

The Kansas City Chiefs have added another competitor at cornerback by trading for former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick Mike Hughes.

ESPN.
ESPN tweeted the Chiefs will send their 2022 sixth-round pick to Minnesota for Hughes and the Vikings 2022 seventh-round pick.
Hughes was the 30th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft following his junior season at the University of Central Florida, where he racked up 49 tackles and four interceptions in 13 games.

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly acquired cornerback Mike Hughes in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ESPN s Field Yates reported the Chiefs will receive Hughes and a 2022 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round pick.
Hughes was a first-round pick in the 2018 draft but has struggled to stay on the field for the Vikings, appearing in just 24 games over three seasons in the NFL. A neck injury limited him to just four games in 2020 before he went on injured reserve.
The Vikings declined the 2022 fifth-year option for the cornerback, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, giving him one more year before free agency.
