(Photo | PTI) Express News Service MUMBAI:  The cultural capital of Maharashtra has become the epicentre of Covid-19 in the state. Of the 6.20 lakh active cases in Maharashtra, 1.12 lakh are reported from Pune alone. According to the Maharashtra government’s health department data, 36,39,855 have tested positive in the state till date. Of this, 6,89,274 are from Pune. Of them, 5,67,602 patients have recovered, while 8,695 died.

(Photo | AP) By PTI MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow people above 25 years of age to receive COVID-19 shots, which he said will protect the young people from the rapid spread of coronavirus at a time when they are stepping outside their homes to earn a livelihood.

Apr 06, 2021, 07:05 IST The number of coronavirus cases are increasing in Maharashtra, as a result, the Shirdi Sai Baba and Mumbai s Siddhivinayak temple have been closed for devotees from Monday night till the next orders. Daily prayers will be offered by the priests of the temple. The administration of Shirdi temple has taken this decision after the Maharashtra government on Sunday announced a weekend lockdown and night curfew in the state so as to control the spread of dangerous coronavirus.  The officiating chief executive officer, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Ravindra Thakre,  said that The Saibaba temple remains closed for devotees from Monday 8 pm till further orders.

At present, the case fatality rate in the state stands at 1.83 per cent. Out of the 2,07,15,793 laboratory samples, which were taken until today, 30,57,885 (14.76%) have tested positive for Covid-19. The state presently has 4,51,375 active cases. As on Wednesday, 24,16,981 people are in home quarantine while 20,115 people are in institutional quarantine. Mahrashtra reports 47,288 new #COVID19 cases, 26,252 discharges and 155 deaths.

Nagpur district collector Ravindra Thakre and his wife performed the father s duty for the groom, who is also an orphan with speech and hearing disabilities, an official release said. The marriage was held at Nagpur, with many political leaders and government officials in attendance.
