Work is starting on a £850,000 revamp of a Victorian railway shed to turn it into offices for community use.
The shed, built in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, in 1875, was used for cargo including sheep and cattle.
The shed ceased operation in 1966, although the office at the western end finally locked its doors in 2000.
A trust set up in 2011 to restore the Grade II-listed shed now has control of it to revamp it into offices for business and community use.

A Chiltern Railways’ train heads into Oxford station above the Sheepwash Channel – the swing bridge still with its rails can be seen on the right The days when trains ran into the Rewley Road station and goods yard in Oxford are now a distant memory. An organisation which provides a meeting place for men has secured a second building on the platform at Nairn Railway Station for their activities.
Pembroke Dock railway station has recently had a £600,000 makeover. The refurbishment of the canopy and restoration of stonework at Pembroke Dock Station, which was originally opened in 1864 - was a Network Rail project. As the station is listed, and was in a very poor state of repair, the Railway Heritage Trust considered the project worthy of support with a grant of £40k towards the work. The building has now been transformed with great care and attention to detail, in a sympathetic and considered manner, acknowledging the importance of its architectural heritage. The RHT also supported Network Rail s decision to re-glaze the canopy with Georgian wired effect polycarbonate glazing. The work was carried out by specialist company TwinFix.
