Crime by Shayla Bulloch Premium Content Subscriber only A WOMAN who tried to hide a used syringe in her hair has been busted with meth and marijuana in a police search. About 11.55pm on Thursday, police saw a man and a woman walking along Tenth Ave, Railway Estate. They searched the man first, and police will allege they found a bag of meth in his bag. Officers also searched the woman and found a syringe in her hair bun, and a bag od meth, marijuana, a used needle and a water pipe in her bag. The 27-year-old Railway Estate man was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on February 1.

He was born in Scotland, but emigrated to Australia in 1842, when he was 19. “In 1851 he founded the Corio Brewery in Geelong, and later started the Union Brewery in Melbourne. By 1854 he was in business at Victoria Parade, East Melbourne, where he had built a new brewery, distillery and malthouse. The large complex was called the Victoria Parade Brewery,” which was later known simply as the Victoria Brewery. He also developed the formula for their most popular beer, Victoria Bitter, also in 1854. When Thomas died in 1884, his son Archibald took over the brewery, but today it is owned by Carlton & United Breweries, which in turn was acquired by SABMiller, although last year, Asahi Breweries bought Carlton & United.

Townsville mum scammed out of $3,000 for false rental property ad

A pregnant mother who was desperately looking for a family home to rent was conned out of $3,000 from elaborate scammers posing as property owners. Jessa Bryen, 22, had been looking for four months for a new home in Townsville, on Queensland s north coast.  She was coming up to the end of her current lease and even sold her car and set aside some of the money so she could afford to pay the deposit for a new home. Ms Bryen put out a call on social media for any vacant properties when she received a response from someone claiming to be a real estate agent.
