Despite the surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, a massive crowd was seen at the Dadar vegetable market in Mumbai on Monday morning. The people in the market were seen flouting social distancing norms and many were seen without a proper mask. Mumbai reported 11,163 new COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths on Sunday. In order to control the new infections, the State government has imposed Section 144 of CrPC between 7 am and 8 pm, banning the gathering of more than five people at a place. Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 57,074 new COVID-19 cases, 27,508 recoveries, 222 deaths on Sunday, as per the State Health Department. The total active cases in the state rose to 30,10,597. The death toll mounted to 55,878 including the new deaths.

In a BSE filing made on Saturday (3 April 2021), IRCTC said that due to rising of corona cases in Maharashtra and Gujarat, services of Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express is being temporarily suspended for a period of one month with effect from 2 April 2021. The situation will be monitored continuously and decision to operate the train will be taken accordingly, it added.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) fell 1.62% to Rs 1907.50 after the company informed about the termination of all existing contracts of mobile catering.
In a regulatory filing made after market hours on Monday (1 March 2021), the company said that Ministry of Railways, in compliance of orders of High Court of Judicature at Madras, has directed IRCTC to terminate all existing contracts of mobile catering (currently kept in abeyance) involving scope of work of providing cooked food to passengers prepared from base kitchens as per the existing terms and conditions. The impact of the above directive is being assessed and will be informed to exchanges in due course, the company further said.
Railtel Corporation of India has been assigned the following work of Rs. 105.82 crore by Ministry of Railways:

approx. Rs.30.37 crore.

Phillaur-Lohiankhas upgradation of signaling. from Std. I to Std. II R with EI at 5 numbers of
Station for the amount of approx. Rs.24.79 crore.
c. Replacement of mechanical signaling at 5 numbers of Station for the amount of approx. Rs.50.66
crore.
The tenure for completion of aforesaid works is 18 months.
