Picture used for representational purpose only HAVERI: The lull in criminal activity in Haveri – a welcome consequence of the lockdown – appears to be at an end, with the district registering more than a dozen cases of theft between July 13 and 21. In all, as many 13 instances of theft have been reported, and property, including cash, worth Rs 35 lakh stolen. Most of these incidents have been reported within the jurisdiction of Hanagal and Kumarapattnam police stations. Not surprisingly, these cases were reported in the wake of all restrictions being lifted across the district. However, law enforcement personnel point to the inadequate infrastructure at their disposal towards effectively combating, and reducing crime, particularly the lack of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras for surveillance.
