Covid Care Facility Rolled Out at Rakabganj Gurdwara 400 beds and 4 ICU beds
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee working with volunteers have set up a 400 bed and 4 ICU bed covid treatment and isolation centre at the Rakabganj Gurdwara near Parliament House.
Amitabh Bachchan isn’t done helping India as it continues to grapple with the deadly second wave of the coronavirus that has crippled the country’s healthcare system and left more than 200,000 dead.
After speaking out at the Vax Live fund-raiser that saw the likes of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez in attendance, Bachchan also used his fame at the ‘Breathe For India’ fund-raiser that he stated has raised close to Rs400 million.
In his personal capacity, the ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ star also revealed he has donated a separate Rs150 million to help those desperate in the country for oxygen, medical supplies, hospital beds and more.

The national capital’s new infections decline further to 12,651, the lowest since April 12 Delhi government has sounded out an SOS to the Centre on the Covid vaccine stocks front. Satyendra Jain, the State Health Minister, said that vaccine stocks are running out and that the city had only a day’s stock in respect of Covaxin and 2-3 days for Covishield. This is for those in the 18-44 years age group.
“We have an extreme shortage of vaccines in Delhi. For COVAXIN, we have stock left for only one day and for COVISHIELD, only 3-days stock is available. We really want the entire population of Delhi to be vaccinated and are conducting a mass vaccination drive”, he told reporters after visiting a 400 bed isolation and treatment centre for Covid patients in Rakabganj Gurdwara. A new 400-bed isolation and treatment centre for Covid patients at Rakabganj Gurudwara has been attached to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital, wherein in case a patient develops critical symptoms he will be shifted to the hospital.
The isolation and treatment centre has been set up by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for Covid patients. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the DSGMC for setting up this fully air-conditioned infrastructure. The Delhi government has taken care of the medical facilities and equipment. Other than that, all facilities have been set up by the DSGMC itself, Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said during an inspection visit on Monday.
