Rostam Announces Second Album Changephobia , Drops New Single 4Runner Wednesday, 03 March 2021
Rostam has shared details of his second solo album.
The follow-up to his 2017 debut Half-Light is called Changephobia and will arrive on June 4 via the former Vampire Weekend member s own label Matsor Projects (via Secretly Distribution).
It ll include the previously released singles These Kids We Knew and Unfold You, along with the newly unveiled euphoric, indie-pop offering 4Runner. Head below for its accompanying road trip-themed video along with the record s artwork and tracklist.
The record was written and produced by Rostam over the last three years, during which he also worked on Clairo s 2019 debut album, Immunity , as well as HAIM s 2020 LP Women in Music Pt. III . Discussing its title, he said:

Growing up, Rostam Batmanglij recalls printing out interviews with producers he looked up to. “I always knew this was what I wanted to do,” he says, adding he got his first multi-track recorder at 14. By his mid-20s, he scored his first No. 1 album as both an artist and producer with Vampire Weekend’s

Now, at 37, Rostam’s career as a band member, solo artist and songwriter-producer is flourishing. He’s worked with artists ranging from Frank Ocean to Charli XCX to Wet, and says to this day he’s never had a song placed with an artist without direct collaboration. “I like to work in such a way that creates a bond with the artists,” he says. “I’m picky about who I work with, and really feel like when we re making an album it s a high artistic statement.
