HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The mother of a University of Southern Mississippi student who drowned over the weekend is remembering her son after his tragic death.
Crystal Frazier is the mother of Robert Brent, the 20-year-old who drowned at a Dauphin Island beach Sunday night. His body was found Wednesday.
âHe was the best kid you could ever ask for. He was extremely protective of me and those that he loved,â Frazier said.

As Mississippi residents recover from the latest round of severe weather, with the National Weather Service in Jackson confirming Tuesday s storms produced eight tornadoes, more storms are expected Sunday.
The latest forecast by the National Weather Service in Jackson includes heavy rainfall with thunderstorms for mostly western parts of Mississippi Sunday afternoon into the night.
Northwestern parts of the state, including areas around Yazoo City, Cleveland, Oxford and Ripley, could have severe storms capable of producing 60 mph damaging winds and small hail, according to the agency. Tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

This breaks a record of the highest number of tornadoes reported in the month of May.Damaging winds and spin-up tornadoes plowed through the state Tuesday, which resulted in numerous downed trees and powerlines. Many are still without power as of Thursday across Central Mississippi.As of Thursday, MEMA has reported 113 homes and six businesses affected in Hinds County, 21 homes and nine businesses affected in Leake County, seven homes affected in Ranking County, five homes and three businesses

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have located the body of a Mississippi college student who disappeared into the Gulf of Mexico off Alabama’s Dauphin Island.
Mayor Jeff Collier says police and fire officials on Wednesday found the body of a man identified by the Coast Guard as 20-year-old Robert Brent of Yazoo County, Mississippi.
The University of Southern Mississippi student went missing on Sunday while swimming in water just off the beach, and Collier posted a statement on social media saying the body was found on the island’s western end.
