Courtney Williams sentenced to 20 years Share Updated: 1:42 PM CDT Apr 14, 2021 A Yazoo County woman has been sentenced to 20 years for the 2019 stabbing death of her father. Courtney Williams was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the Sept. 1, 2019, death of James Williams, of Bentonia. James Williams was stabbed twice in the back inside the family s home, according to a news release from District Attorney Akillie Malone-Oliver. Courtney (Williams) was initially charged with murder, but after a two-day trial in which the defendant gave several conflicting statements as to the reason why she stabbed her father, the Yazoo County jury convicted her of manslaughter, the release said.Several family members testified during the sentencing hearing, including James Williams sister, Catherine Smith, who asked
