Amazon brings Masked Singer to Japan

The UK version of The Masked Singer on ITV Global streamer Amazon Prime Video is taking Korean format The Masked Singer to Japan, with the series set to begin on September 3 as an Amazon original. Local actor Yo Oizumi will host the show, in which disguised celebrities sing for a panel of judges who must try to guess their identity. One celebrity is crowned the winner in the series finale. The show debuted in South Korea in 2015 as King of Masked Singer, which was created by and aired on local broadcaster MBC. So far, the format has been sold into more than 40 countries worldwide, including the US on Fox and the UK on ITV.
