THE spirit of Christmas spread through a Colchester street after a couple transformed their front porch into a magical and mystical Santa’s Grotto. Don and Jean Quinn, of King Stephen Road, decorated their home’s doorway with shiny tinsel, an inflatable snowman, and festive lights. The seasonal revamp came after residents called on Don, a well-known events’ organiser, to arrange somewhere for their children to meet Santa Claus. After making a call to the North Pole and liaising with his hardworking elves, he managed to convince the jolly gift-giver to stop off in Colchester. Don said: “We have a nice community in this street and so many people really wanted their kids to see Santa and we actually know him really very well.
