U.S. News & World Report has released its annual rankings of every public high school in the nation.
The rankings rated more than 17,800 public high schools on how well they served students on factors such as college readiness, reading and math performance, graduation rates and assistance for underserved students.
Diversity is one of the great strengths of Kennett. When I was in 5th grade I was just as likely to be beaten up on the playground by a white kid as a black kid. But my close friends were pretty much all white. I got to know the Hispanics and Blacks from sports and class but they were never really close friends. I might add, I did have friends who grew up to identify themselves as âdeplorablesâ.
This diversity taught me that what I learned in church was true, that we are all Godâs children; equally valuable and need to be recognized and included in the Worldâs Family. Although, we still need to face the fact that Sunday at noon is the most segregated hour of the day in America.
Pa. teacher’s aide can’t beat her conviction, prison sentence in student sex case
Updated Jan 28, 2021;
A former teacher’s aide found guilty of engaging in sex acts with two male students from a Pennsylvania high school lost her bid to void her conviction and prison sentence Thursday.
In denying Sheri Maufort’s appeal, a state Superior Court panel rejected her argument that she got a raw deal at her trial when prosecutors were allowed to introduce evidence that she had smoked marijuana with one of the teens several months before molesting him.
Maufort, now 46, of Vandergrift, was sentenced to 11 ½ to 23 months in prison, plus 3 years of probation, in 2018 after a Chester County jury convicted her on charges of institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.
