Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International (DFI) – developers of the £1.3 billion regeneration of Olympia as a world-leading cultural destination – announce a major agreement with the premium international live entertainment business, Trafalgar Entertainment, to run the site’s new 1,575-seat theatre. The theatre will be the largest new permanent theatre build of its kind to open in London since the National Theatre in 1976.

Laing O’Rourke wins £600m Olympia main works contract
Laing O’Rourke has landed the £600m main works contract for the Olympia scheme in west London.
The firm will deliver seven new buildings on the site, including two hotels, a 4,400-seat music venue and a 1,575-seat theatre. Olympia Central Hall will be demolished while the Olympia National and Olympia Grand, both Grade II-listed, will be retained. Restaurants, retail and office space will also be built at the site.
Laing O’Rourke was been picked by investors and developers Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International (DFI) after completing a year’s worth of enabling works at the project.
West End company signs 70-year lease on new Olympia Theatre
Trafalgar Entertainment has signed a 70-year lease at the new Olympia Theatre in West London, which is scheduled to open in 2025.
The agreement, which will run for 35 years with the option to extend for a further 35, is part of a broader ambition by the live entertainment business to create a venue of national stature as the UK emerges into a post-pandemic era.
The 1,575-seat venue will be the largest new permanent theatre build of its kind to open in London since the National Theatre in 1976.

Coronavirus has pulled the plug on the live music business, and scientists are warning physical distancing restrictions may have to continue until Christmas, but one entertainment company is pushing ahead with plans to build a gigantic concert venue in London.
The US’s Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) – which owns the New York concert and sports venue – is planning to upstage the Millennium Dome with a globe-shaped structure called the MSG Sphere.
In the face of opposition from local people, the project is awaiting planning approval for a site in Stratford, just north of the dome, also known as the O2 Arena.
