LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid directed the officials on Tuesday to strictly observe deadlines in ongoing development projects at the tehsil and district headquarters hospitals of the province.
She was chairing a meeting at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.
The minister reviewed the status of existing and ongoing projects at the DHQ and THQ hospitals, basic health units (BHUs), rural health centres (RHCs), Sehat Ghar Programme, trauma centres and diagnostic centres.
Ms Rashid said the public hospitals in eight districts of the province were being upgraded. She added that the work on DHQ Hospital Multan and THQ Hospital Taunsa was under way and Secretary Health South Ajmal Bhatti was personally monitoring the activities. LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said here Monday that there was an inverse link between number of vaccinated people and the number of new infections hence everyone must get them vaccinated.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony between the Minister’s Delivery Unit, Health Department and University of Central Punjab, the health minister said that awareness among youths was a key to stopping the spread of COVID-19. She gave away prizes to students for producing outstanding video products, including documentaries and posters on themes of vaccination refusals and reluctance.

LAHORE: Hundreds of people aspiring to go abroad queued up at Expo Centre for coronavirus vaccination on Monday.
The government had started to vaccinate those people who wanted to go abroad by establishing two vaccination centres in Lahore Expo Centre and LDA Sports Complex. The vaccination centres would remain open for 24 hours.
Hundreds of people including students, labourers and business persons would be administered Moderna vaccine.
Earlier, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid also tweeted that the government would give Pfizer vaccine to the people who had work permits to go abroad in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East. “The aspirants would have to bring their work permit and other documents for vaccination,” she said.
