Millfield Lane in Nether Poppleton A NEW 15 metre-high telecoms mast is set to be built in a village near York – but parish councillors fear it will obstruct views of York Minster. Hutchinson UK – which runs mobile network Three – has applied for permission to put the mast up in Millfield Lane in Nether Poppleton close to the entrance to Poppleton Junior Football Club. City of York Council’s planning team recommends the plans be approved. But Nether Poppleton Parish Council is unhappy with the mast, saying: “The parish council is aware that the open aspect of the Green Belt in this area of Poppleton affords wonderful views of the Minster and as such gives further protection to the Green Belt status of the area.
Bannatyne York is set to reopen next month A GYM in York says they are ready to welcome back members on April 12 following the announcement of the Prime Minister’s roadmap out of lockdown. Bannatyne, which has a health club and spa at York Business Park say they will not be operating a booking system for the gym or pool, as the health club has sufficient space and they have worked out thethe maximum number of members it can accommodate safely. Drivers are being asked not to put off their MoT A YORK garage is appealing to drivers not to put off getting their MoT. Following the announcement that the Government will not be re-introducing its six-month MoT test extension, car owners risk fines of up to £1,000 if their MoT is out of date. The guidance caveats that those who are isolating, shielding or have Covid-19 symptoms must not travel to get their MoT test certificate renewed. Most garages and MoT testing centres are currently open for essential services. Duncan Chapman, retailer principal from Ray Chapman Motors based at York Business Park in the city, said: “Any car over three years old must have an MoT test every year to be considered road-legal – even if you are not currently using your car.

Evans Property Group has fully let phase one at Quad, its York Business Park scheme, within three months of practical completion.
