Covid-19 vaccine and test and trace scams warning to York residents RESIDENTS in York are being warned about a spate of scams relating to Covid-19. People have reported receiving fake mobile texts, calls or emails offering vaccine appointments or claim to be about Test and Trace. In most cases the texts and emails contain a link that asks for payment or further personal details. City of York Council say people are being invited to be vaccinated when it’s their turn. They will be invited by the NHS, their local GP practice, or in York by Nimbuscare, a local consortium of 11 GP practices.

Posterngate Surgery and Tadcaster Health Centre will both be acting as a ‘primary care hubs’ on behalf of the Selby Town and Tadcaster and Rural Selby Primary Care Networks (PCNs). Eligible patients currently aged over 84 in the area who are most at risk from serious harm of COVID-19 have started to receive the much awaited vaccine. The priority groups are in line with the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) in order to protect the most vulnerable.
PRIMARY care services in York are celebrating the first week of its successful delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to local patients. The first man to receive the vaccine was 82-year-old Gordon Short - who said he was surprised to receive his invite in the post the day before the appointment. Gordon said: “I was really pleased – I really would have been happy to postpone it and offer it to someone else. I’ve only just received the appointment so here I am. My daughter will be delighted. The first couple that attended for their appointment was Eileen and Kenneth Ward from Copmanthorpe. “We’re still going to be careful,” said Eileen as she and her husband became the first couple in York to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
THE first patients in Pickering have received the Covid-19 vaccine. Pickering Medical Practice will be acting as a primary care hub and will be vaccinating eligible patients from its own practice and those registered at Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Terrington practices. Kirstie Vincer, nurse manager at Pickering Medical Practice, said: Everyone is fantastically excited to be able to begin vaccinating. It s taken an effort like none of us have ever experienced and it s only been possible because of the collective energy of colleagues within our Primary Care Network and an army of volunteers. “We are all set up and ready to vaccinate people efficiently and safely. It’s incredibly exciting knowing that we will be one of the first GP practices to provide the vaccine.
