Government shoots down Mysuru DC s new COVID-19 restrictions

Updated: Share Article AAA The State government has torpedoed the advisory issued by Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri on carrying RT-PCR negative report if travelling from Bengaluru to Mysuru or visiting places of tourist interest. Ms. Sindhuri on Thursday said that carrying RT-PCR negative report was an advisory if travelling from Bengaluru to Mysuru, but would not be checked or considered mandatory. However, she said that a negative report was must for people to visit places of tourist interest in Mysuru. The district administration also announced that an RT-PCR negative report was mandatory to watching films in theatres. The announcement was greeted with a barrage of criticism on the grounds that it was not practical, given that thousands of people commuted daily/regularly between the two cities.

Talking to reporters after visiting Ashakirana Hospital at Hebbal here yesterday, she said MAHAN Group Private Hospitals of all 65 Wards have come forward to do vaccination free of cost. Already, over 25 Private Hospitals have agreed for it and 50 more Hospitals were expected to join this mission in next one week, she added. The DC said the Corona positive cases have been on rise in city in last one week. The chances of contracting the contagion were less if more and more people take vaccine voluntarily. DC Rohini turns Maths teacher - Star of Mysore

Hunsur (Terikal): Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri donned the role of a teacher and solved Mathematics sums to the students of Government Primary School at Terikal village in Bilikere Hobli near Hunsur this morning. Over 20 students were present in the classroom and they were listening in rapt attention.  The DC visited the school as part of the State Government’s plan asking Revenue Department officials, including the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Tahsildars to visit villages on every third Saturday of each month to hear the grievances on-the-spot and solve the issues.  Accompanied by a battery of officials from various Departments, Rohini Sindhuri arrived at the village at 10 am and headed straight to the Government School. Wearing white uniforms as it is a Saturday, students welcomed the DC along with their teachers. As she entered the classrooms, the teachers and Education Department officials explained the facilities available at the school.

Sudhakar said that people from those two States will be allowed to enter Karnataka only after producing the RT-PCR negative report. Addressing a news conference in Bengaluru this morning, the Minister said this decision had been taken as per suggestions by COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) headed by Dr. M.K. Sudarshan in the wake of sudden spurt in Corona positive cases in Kerala and Maharashtra. On an average, 5,000 to 6,000 cases were reported from these two States daily. “Health experts have advised people to be careful till March end. They must strictly follow all the safety guidelines in the interest of everyone,” he said.
